Guacolda Energía SpA is an electricity generation and sales company, with more than 25 years of presence in the electricity sector, supplying both regulated and free mining-industrial and commercial customers throughout Chile, mainly in the Norte Chico area.

The Guacolda thermoelectric power plant, located in Huasco, Atacama Region, has a strategic location in the National Electric System, providing safe, reliable, flexible and competitive energy.

It consists of five Mitsubishi coal-fired thermoelectric generating units of 152 MW each, which inject their electricity through two transmission lines of their own.

Each of these units is equipped with state-of-the-art technology for emissions control, which allows them to comply strictly with environmental regulations and the commitments acquired in their environmental permits.

Guacolda Energía SpA currently employs around 190 people, most of them in the thermoelectric power plant, who stand out for their high level of specialization and knowledge of the plant.

Today the company plays an important social role in the Huasco area, not only because it is one of the main sources of employment, but also because of the development of a complete program of social and community support activities, through support for farmers, competitive funds for entrepreneurs, agreements with artisanal fishermen, financing of green areas, educational, health and sports scholarships, among others.
